Hello all! I'm fairly new to WDC, but not to writing. I figure the best way to break the ice is simply to answer the questions posted above, so here it goes! General About Questions What would you like us to call you? London Rush, London, Rush. Any of those. It's my pen name by the way, if you couldn't tell! ![]() (Don't feel you have to post your whole name. First names work, or nicknames.) Are you female or male? (Sometimes we get mixed up with text!) Well...I am a male, though many have been mixed up through my writing. I love to write in first person, so I have been mistaken for a girl a few times. One of the joys of internet anonymity I suppose. How old are you? (Ballpark?) Ballpark: I am older than 18 and younger than 30. Precisely, I am 23 and 3 weeks. Do you have a spouse? Siblings? Children? Negative on all counts. How did you find Writing.Com? Writer's Digest mentioned it years ago so I've known of it for quite some time. How did you find "I.N.K.E.D." ? Randomly browsing WDC. I honestly have no idea. Writing Questions Who are your favorite authors? Cormac Mccarthy. William Faulkner. Ernest Hemingway. Many more. What type of writing is your passion? Hard to define. Whatever I am feeling at the moment. I dabble in virtually everything from time to time. What genres are you interested in writing? (Or reading?) Eh, again, whatever I am feeling at the moment. To name a few, I like fantasy, science fiction, horror, quirky romances. What do you hope most to gain by being an active member on this site? Friendships and a place to share my writing with the world. What's one thing about this site that you like so far? The interaction. So much more active and supportive than ANY other writing site on the web, hands down! What are some things you feel other members may be able to help you with? This may sound snotty, so don't take it as such, but I came to WDC more for the fellowship of writers than I did to look for help. With that said, I can take criticism and I certainly appreciate it! I'm just not one of those writers who lives and dies on how "good" they are. I simply love writing, I love writers, and I love to associate with my like-minded peers! ![]() If you could give one piece of writing advice, what would it be? The more you can cut, the better it usually is. Not that all adverbs and adjectives are evil, but one could be amazed at how much better a story can read without them. Just a fun exercise though that gives perspective; not a principle. What's the best piece of writing advice you've ever received? Don't worry about what people think. If it's real and it matters to you, write it. I've found that my most successful pieces were the ones that were most honest, regardless of how edgy, avant garde, etc. What is your favorite quote? By who? "A writer must writer what he has to say. Not speak it." Hemingway Goofy or 'Just For Fun' Questions What's your favorite color? blue If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do? Would it be cliche if I said I'd write? Eh, well, I'd probably write. If the whole world were listening, what would you say? (We're not the whole world, but we're listening!) Don't be so worried about meeting the expectations of others. Love fully and live freely. By the time your life is over, I can guarantee there will be no regrets. If there was one thing you could do in your life you can't right now, for whatever reason, what would it be and why? I couldn't honestly say. I am at an odd crossroads right now, and aside from writing, I'm not really sure where I'm going. Though depressing in one sense, it certainly fuels my artistic creativity... If one song were to describe your life, what song would it be and who is it by? I'm not one to wallow in self-pity, but since you asked..."The Drugs Don't Work," by The Verve If you could spend $10,000 dollars on anything you wanted, what would you do with it? Foreign travel with a couple of close friends! That's about it! I look forward to getting to know some new friends and fellow writers! |
