I love the IM system on WDC. It's great to be able to discuss writerly things (or even non-writerly ones) quickly and easily without having the whole WDC site up.

However, one thing I find missing in the IM system here that Facebook, Yahoo, Steam, and other places that have IM is the sound notification. That is, in Facebook and the others I listed, when a new message is sent, the computer blips, bleeps, or otherwise makes a noise if the user is not directly in the IM screen.

I miss that with the WDC IM because I'm often also checking in on another writing forum that I moderate, checking emails, sometimes working on other projects. And more than once I've gone 15-30 minutes and realized that my writer friend had come online and sent me half a dozen IMs without noticing it.

Is there any chance to implement a noise to warn of a new IM message?
