I have no idea whether anyone else has come up with the idea of having two different sets of star ratings, but I think it would be a good idea.
My thoughts are that perhaps Set 1 {rating 1-5 stars) could be for hobby writers and those who are just starting out, and for items like campfires and interactives and Set 2 (rating 1-5 stars) would be for those serious/advanced writers who are aiming for publication.
The user could choose which category of rating their item(s) fall into, and/or if the user hasn't said, then the reviewer can choose which catagory of rating the item merits. I feel that this would be a fairer system and less arbitary and I think that it would both help and encourage new writers to aspire to set 2 ratings and give the serious and more advanced writers more confidence in the rating system.
