IM chain of replies

It would be convenient if there were a way to view the history of replies (i.e. log) for each IM conversation that's going on.

While there is a log, when you are holding multiple conversations with the same person, the log doesn't tell you what is a reply to what. So a log for each conversation, linked from within the IM box itself, would be useful.
