Oops. I didn't sign into WDC for awhile because the new school year always starts with lots of phone calls and emails, to sort out problems and misunderstandings. Phoenix, I like to imagine one person as the specific audience for a particular piece of writing. I suppose it won't surprise you that you've become my target reader for the asperger book. I was explaining to an acquaintance just yesterday that you've been helping me by asking questions and, while answering them, I've been thinking of other things to write. According to my wordcount, I'm about 20% into the book so I've taken a little holiday to deal with some of my paperwork, sort out Robert's support issues and rework my writing plan for the rest of the year. Now I'm back to writing but I also need to email a couple of Dan's teachers and start on my mother-in-law's paperwork. I intend breaking off again for NaNoWriMo so that leaves me five weeks to write as much as I can on this subject so I can hopefully complete the first draft by Christmas. My 2009 NaNo has been resting for almost two years and this little fallow time has allowed me to think about changes I wish to make to some of the characters and some much-needed improvements to the story. Among the central characters, I have a girl with autism more towards the Kanner end of the spectrum, based on a friend's son, so I'll soon need to research that. Meanwhile, this year's NaNo will involve mental ill-health issues, mixed with fairy stories and a little prejudice. Should be fun. Got to break off now, for sleep. How mundane, eh. Take care, Cathie |
