Noticing Newbies

I just signed up and was surfing through the Newbie posts. I came across your post and was immediately impressed that you are a writer. I am very envious. Writing has never come easy for me. As a matter of fact, it down right scares me to death. Silly really since I have to write a lot in order to complete my degrees...one in mathematics, one in engineering, my maters degree, and I have a couple of classes towards my doctorate. My intention is to write more and use this site's resources. Why start now at my advanced age of 52? Like many in today's economy I have had to start a new job. After 38 years in manufacturing I now find myself working with design engineers. One of the expectations of my new job is to write...white papers, magazine articles, engineering reports, etc. I am considered by many in my field to be an expert in manufacturing. I now find myself in the position of having to share my knowledge by writing. One hand I'm excited about the opportunity, on the other, I'm not looking forward to staring at a blank piece of paper straining to get started. I hope this site helps me work through a few of my many issues.
