This is a film by Steven Spielberg. It was released this summer. I watched it yesterday at home. I feel this is really aimed at young people. The plot is very uncomplicated and straight forward, a crashed alien space ship, the alien held in isolated torture for what seemed to be fifty long years. Afraid and wanting to return home, the alien causes general havock. The acting from the principals made this movie bearable. Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka and Kyle Chandler all of them teenagers, carried the weak plot and made the movie a moderate success.
Steven Speilburg seemed to take his theme from Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T., join them together and produce a new film. It wasn't all it was advertised to be in my opinion. I am used to really good plots and new tales from Spielburg and this was a disappointment. However, if you have youngsters at home, this is one that you can watch with them. The violence is mostly blown up vehicles and very little death. Older kids, say 12 and up will enjoy this.
