Elisa, thanks for the suggestions. Next time, I'll set the item to private while I'm working on it.
"Also, the options in Section 6 may be of use to you to reduce some of the time spent formatting."
To be perfectly honest, I've used a lot of online editors and have never seen options such as: "Save Item," "Save and Edit," and "Save and View." For a writing site, the chosen terms are far from communicative. I could be wrong, but I assume that "Save Item" saves it; "Save and Edit" saves it and allows you to keep editing; and "Save and View" saves it and takes you to the item's page. I tried "Save and Edit" because I thought that this choice wouldn't publish it while I was still editing. As far as I can tell, all three options make the item publicly viewable, unless you set it to "private."
Ideally, the buttons should provide several clear options: "Save as Draft," "Preview Item" and "Publish." A "Cancel" or "Delete Item" button could be added, as well.
