While it seems like an interesting concept, it's certainly complex and requires a lot of flexibility. When I look at it, I feel pretty confident that your method of creating a template is probably the best bet. You'd use that within entries of the existing Book Item type, and using the template for each character in individual entries within the book, build them out. You can link to other characters view their entry id and {entry:######} within the book. The fields would remain entirely flexible and you could fully customize notes, etc for each character. With something like this, a "system" would add a lot of rigidity; while it would add benefits they would likely offset by negatives of a fixed and set system. Not too mention that the time to develop something so niche would yield such few added benefits it would be way down on our priority list. I'm basically replying only to suggest that, since this isn't likely to happen, you go forward with your existing concept used in an existing book item type. If you work with that, you're likely to come out with something very useful in a short and realistic time frame. Best wishes, ~~SM
