I just went back and checked the log from last year, and by this point last year I was already done with the Prep! Granted, there were no bonus assignments either. But then I realized that this year I have a much firmer grasp on my characters and setting. Last year's novel was a flop. I think I quit working on it early because I ran out of story to tell.
So, I guess what I'm saying is, if you're chugging along, getting assignments done the day they're due, you're doing well. It's better to spend as much time as you need planning out details than to rush through the process and not have a solid foundation to begin with. Don't be discouraged by those who have already finished the Prep!
