I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. I wish you a speedy recovery. Kudos for your brave efforts at nano! I had a 7 month old baby 2 years ago and accomplished all of 4k words, so that you're even trying is amazing! I'd give yourself a break, nano is really about getting that story out of your head and onto paper, not necessarily about writing 50k in November. I view it as that bug kick in the pants power pressure thing that most of us need to actually crank out a novel. If you're motivated enough to try to win with an injury like that, you need not worry that you're story will never get told. Any month can be a novel writing month, no one ever said you had to do it with the rest of the nation (and beyond). If you're able to lie comfortably in bed, if recommend an office app that connects to cloud storage. You can write with just your thumb and then your words will be there on your computer when you're feeling better. It takes longer, but you don't have to dictate to your phone. I use it to write while I'm rocking my baby to sleep at night. The typos are harder to catch, but that's what editing is for, right?
