Musings of Shahjahan

Taj Mahal completed, beautiful beyond belief,
at least now I can heave a sigh of relief.
Now she won't come to haunt this palace's premise ,
nor she will try to expedite my demise.

Now she has that bloody monument of hers worked,
there she can reside in her coffin, undisturbed.
My sleep will be finally free from her portrayal
My ears won't blister with her screech of betrayal

People think I did that coz my love was distinguished
but then they do not know the true marital bliss.
Lucky chaps; they are not burdened with a nagging wife
who rises after death again, brandishing knives.

Taj is a tribute to the fear of my wife Mumtaz
May she leave me alone, now that she has passed.
I don't care that my coffers are now empty.
After twenty years she has finally has left--I'm free.



Taj Mahal is actually considered the monument of love created by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
