Something Awful Comes This Way!

"Invalid Item" 

I mention the death of Sylvia Plath
who didn’t take toaster into her bath
or fire a bullet into her head
but alas, she still is dead

with her head in the oven, she turned on the gas
and that was how it came to pass
which made her dear writing friend (Sexton, Anne)
envious, so she made a plan

she lived and worked for years and years
but her poems were full of fears
and wishes for some kind of death
but different from Sylvia’s oven breath

so, at last when Anne felt her life went too far
she went to her garage and turned on her car
I sometime consider the poems of these women
and think to myself, what might have been
