The issue with b-Items in threaded view is not, of course, an issue with just one b-Item or c-Item in one post.

The problem with them is when people have 2 or 3 in their sigs and then use some in their posts. Before you know it, you've ended up with a page of scrolling for each post in a thread of say 20 or 30 posts and your finger starts to get really tired from mousing around trying to find the actual content in the thread...

I don't use threaded view, so I'm more or less impartial on it at this point... however, I think people who DO use threaded view on a regular basis would find themselves flooded with lots of junk on their pages --> "Junk" is what 20 b-Items in a thread would feel like, IMHO. It would make wading through those longer threads 2 or 3 times harder than it needs to be. Even though I don't use it, I really have to wonder and have some concern for those that do if it's worth while outside of the special case you described (of trying to show off 1 awardicon, 1 time).

The extra data being sent with b-items / c-items could cause problem for older computers and tablets (like your Kindle Fire) with lower available memory. Not in small threads with a few posts... but the longer ones with lots of conversation.
