Direct Transfer of Docs

Would it be possible the have a way to directly transfer documents into a static item so that all italicizing, bolding, and formatting were instantly converted into WritingML? It is an awful pain to search through a document and find all the instances where there should be italics, and a feature such as this would eliminate a lot of hassle.
