At the moment, the monthly contests focus mainly upon short story writing (Short Shots/Quotation Inspiration) with the occasional break for a poem (Limericks, Limericks, Limericks) or article/letter (Dear Me).

As I've said before, many people are drawn to WDC because they aspire to write THAT BOOK. A novel. The idea that's been sitting in their head for years and they want to get written.

Recently, I've allowed entries to my monthly contest "Invalid Item"  to be either a short story OR an opening chapter inspired by the given quote.

Have you considered creating a monthly official contest where entrants are required to write an opening chapter, or maybe a novel synopsis, in response to a prompt, either quote or image?
