A place where I can post some writing prompts to inspire any and all writers. |
As writers, many of us are dreaming of the day when we can tell our friends and families that we've finally had our first novel published. In the past, in order to see that dream we had to hire an agent, send off our manuscripts to a variety of print publications and spends months praying for an acceptance letter. These days, however, almost anyone can self-publish their books for the mass market. The problem with that is that there have been a slew of really bad books thrown out there. The fix is online publishers. These companies are kind of a middle ground where you still have to send in an edited, ready-to-sell manuscript, but you don't need the agent or wait form months on end. Many online publishing houses respond within weeks. Here are a few I've found that are currently accepting manuscripts from seasoned and emerging authors. Evernight Publishing --This company specialized in publishing romance, erotic romance, and urban fantasy novels. Manuscripts should be between 8,000 and 100,000 words, fully edited and ready for publication. Authors must be at least 18 yrs old. Eirelander Publishing is currently accepting submissions in all genres, but they have a heavy emphasis on the paranormal, sci-fi, and romance. They will accept manuscripts with as little as 5,000 words but won't consider putting anything into print under 50,000 words. Their open calls page gives a detailed list of what they really want to see, but that doesn't mean they won't look at anything else. Vagabondage Press is accepting submissions from all genres including poetry collections but must be from novelette length to full novel length. All submissions need to be sent through the site as they do not accept emailed or snail mail submissions. This company promotes all their books through many of the major e-book online markets such as Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and Apple iBookstore. Miss Christine ~~AKA~~ Sapheyerblu
