My blog. Sometimes abstruse musings and rants! |
MAY 9 ENTRY: What are your thoughts on the new look of Writing.Com? What are your favorite things about it, and, if anything, what would you like to see changed? First off, a confession. I hadn't a clue about what this site used to be like in the 'olden yellow' days, I joined in March 2013 and have always used the white version. So I snooped around and thanks to Ellie and her links, I found something to write on. http://goo.gl/W3d5u http://goo.gl/IVQ7F http://goo.gl/UxHdt 1) Readability: Somehow, I find it easier on my eyes if the background is yellow and not white. I don't know if its the same for all of you but I feel strongly about this. +1 to the old site. 2) Navigation: I found thus a bit difficult on the older site because instead of buttons and links, it had icons for stuff. Easier system is buttons so this point goes to the new site. Point to be noted is that even the new site is difficult to handle on mobile devices(I've tried it on two). Something to work on. 3) Ratings system: I like the new format of stars instead of having radio buttons(older version). Guess that's just personal opinion. 4) Aesthetic appeal or Appearance: I don't know, it's just something about the yellow background of the older site that somehow made the site more appealing. I guess it's about the memories of the yellowing pages of old books that we all tried to read, careful not to tear the pages.... Nostalgia! 5) Membership: I know it is necessary but some people, like me, are discouraged from joining because they don't like to give away credit card information. I am not one of those people who really like change, but I'm not averse to it either. I don't believe in "why change it if it ain't broken?". So here's to change “You can't stop the future You can't rewind the past The only way to learn the secret ...is to press play.” ― Jay Asher |
