Yes, I think what The Storymaster points out is the only way to maintain maximum freedom and autonomy for WDC members. When Staff and Moderators are called upon to get involved in a member's portfolio (except in cases where a member disregards the rules of the community), no matter how important it may seem, the action steps over a line and can cause dissention and distrust. It is better to have to create a new group among the members of the lost group than to "take over" (without some kind of previous owner's okay) ownership of the delinquent owner's property. A very prominent group which accomplishes great things within the community might be lost; but that loss is small compared to safeguarding the privileges of WDC members. However, if a group is doing that great, it is likely due to a concerted effort by the members of the group; and those members should be able to relocate into a new group, which they designate a member of their team to create, so they can continue providing the same service they enjoy providing. I am sure that if they don't create a new group, they will find other groups in the community where they can use the talents they enjoy employing. But these are only my thoughts on the subject. |
