(My Dear Me entry from the inaugural run in 2003, for example, won third place, which happened about 6 months before we even had Merit Badges. I have held onto that thing for ten years, because it has a Staff ribbon on it, even though it's so outdated and reflects so little of myself that I can kind of point at it and laugh? So, I mean, it happens, but I think the Merit Badge method makes me feel less guilty if I decide-- for any reason-- I want to take my story down. )
