Notwithstanding the The StoryMaster's reply, some members (for whatever reasons) prefer to keep their membership level private. Personally, I think such a change would just add clutter to your screen.
If you just have to know a member's level, you can click on the Membership Info link on their Community Tab ... if it's not set to private.
