Re: Brainstorming Help.
Are these private parties at someone's house? Maybe loud music, possibly underage drinking (depending on the crowd), girls crowding the bathroom mirrors to primp, boys trying to impress each other and the girls, but mostly just being loud and obnoxious? Like maybe one of the guys tries to bench press the coffee table - or one of the girls - while all the guys are rowdy and cheer him on? On the other hand, it could be a bust of a party with lots of awkward silence. If it's a party with a bunch of girls, maybe a session of truth or dare. As for conversation, at least one of the characters (if there are a handful), if not many, are likely to be trying to impress each other with things that teenagers think are impressive, like how much a guy can bench press, how many touchdown passes he's thrown, how the cheerleader just finally made her double back handspring, how many girls a guy has had or how far he got with his girlfriend, how sweet and perfect a girl's boy is, maybe how far she got with him, the Porsche somebody's parents got them for their 16th birthday. Someone else is inevitably rolling their eyes at the stupidity and immaturity of it all, while another someone else is rolling their eyes in jealousy, and a third someone else is hanging on to every word out of the bragger (most likely the popular kid) and encouraging them. There's probably some angst about whatever makes teenagers angsty - how much of a jerk the biology teacher is, how much of jerks their parents are, how their counselor is making them do some ridiculous journal exercise and their parents are withholding gas money until they do it, how they can't wait to get out of their parents' house / school / this stupid city. Maybe some animated and positive conversation about upcoming sporting events, how they're going to kick the butts of the Panthers / Tigers / Eagles so hard they'll land three states away and never come back / come back crawling with their tails between their legs. Maybe someone just got accepted into the college of their dreams and is excited to share the news with their friends.

Just some ideas to get the ball rolling. *Smile*

Regards,
Michelle
