If one likes an item, one should pick an appropriate star rating that would indicate you liked it. Adding "likes" on top of stars is just confusing and overcomplicating, in my humble opinion. This is why, rather than add "likes" to items, we instead made star ratings send you a notification instead. Certainly for most folks a 4, 4.5 or 5 star rating should signify that you liked it and the author gets a notification of the rating.
