Hi Kurt. Welcome to WDC.com. So glad to have you join us. My only advice is to write about whatever you have a passion for... read, read, read and review. See what you like and write. Try to write a little something every day. This is a wonderful haven for writers of all genres and you've chosen a great place to begin your journey in writing. I'm a formalist poet and have been a member for four years. I've made some good friends here since then. I'm sure you will too. The overview for this site is extremely helpful and can be found here: "Writing.Com 101" . If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. The members and staff are friendly and helpful. There are several groups that orient Newbies in navigating the site and some of them have workshops and/or courses in different styles of writing if your interested. Enjoy yourself, and above all have fun.
