Motivate yourself to conquer your goals this week! Post on Monday; update us on Friday! |
This week's goals are about my use of time. I work part-time at a court reporting office, and only rake in 16 hours a week. Even though I recently got a raise, this isn't enough to allow me to move out of my parents' home. We may be moving out of state in the next 6 months, so I'm laying off the full-time search until we're sure where we're going to be. As a consequence, I'm working on misc. things here at home for 3 days out of the work week, and need to make my time worthwhile. I've been advertising editing services at the universities and colleges in my area (we're rather thick with them here), hoping to make some money at English tutoring and term paper edits. I have business cards and price lists for services. While looking for clients, I'm online here too. I plan to have 3 stories entered into contests this week! I've been doing a lot of reviewing lately, and hope to do 20-25 reviews this week. It's great practice, and the variety of reading is wonderful for the creative juices. I've noticed, being home a lot, that TV is a great weakness of mine. Daytime television is made up a lot of reruns, and honestly, watching the same stories I've already seen does nothing to further my progress. Instead, I've set a 15pg/day reading goal, hoping to build up my attention span. I've been working on the complete works of HP Lovecraft, and I'm ready to buckle down to get through it. It's wonderful material, but the sheer volume of the book (1000+ pages) is bogging me down. Finally, I've downloaded YWriter5. I've been wrestling whole folders of Word documents with books I've been writing, and I've heard this will be a great help. This week, I want to get some fundamentals down. I've downloaded the manual and am just about to crack it open. I'd like to have my themed short story collection put in by the end of the week. Wish me luck! Thanks! |
