This is so true. Conflict will not only keep the reader turning pages, but keep your story from falling flat. I keep the following taped to my PC. It was written by Jerry Cleaver. Rhonda was so sweet so share it with me. I am picking my book up this Wednesday:
The Story Formula
Conflict = A dramatic want + A dramatic obstacle + Action (What they are doing to overcome to obstacle) + Emotion (The reader needs to know at all times what the character is feelings; their worries, fears, hopes and where you are showing the reader) + Showing (Characters acting and talking as much as possible - create a moment by moment, word for word experience happing right before your eyes and the reader will be able to picture the image. = Resolution Be it victory, defeat or compromise.
