Motivate yourself to conquer your goals this week! Post on Monday; update us on Friday! |
My goals for this week are not going to be the same as always. I've tried the list approach and it just doesn't work for me. I guess it's kind of the difference between writing a novel with an outline, which I can not do, and being a pantser, which I totally am. I always accomplish something during my week that furthers my goal of being a full time writer, whether that's critiquing other people, or writing something new or sending off material to yet another source for publication. So that's a win for me. But I feel like a loser when I post a list of goals and I end up doing everything except what's on the list, and I never end up posting the results. So, my brain has decided that if I post stuff in a different way, then I'll be fine. I had a rousing great critique group on Saturday afternoon with a group of writers I've been associated with for just over a year now. So my brain is working on revisions for the two stories I had critiqued. It is my intentions to get the changes committed to a document before weeks end, but it all depends upon figuring out how to make the changes suggested. They were all positive changes, which should make it easier but I've found that sometimes the easiest fixes are the last ones done. I guess I just love a challenge. One of the pieces is what I call a creeper ... a horror story spin off ... an Edgar Allen Poe genre. It is my challenge to myself this month. And since I've already been working on it today, I can definitively say that I will be working on this story this week. Lol. I also began reviewing a fellow member of the Novel Workshop's book last week that he is revising for his editor, so if he posts any more chapters I will be reviewing those. I love his work. When I finish here, I will be working on scope and sequence paperwork for my daughter's homeschool portfolio. I have six courses to complete by weeks end. Oh joy. Oh rapture. And then this evening I will be reviewing a couple of other people's work in the Novel Workshop too. Despite having managed five reviews last week for them, I have a couple of people that I've missed. I will also be pinging in and out of the Pro-N Group as well with reviews. Both of those groups are insanely active, and yet hardly noticed because all of our reviews are private as we are all working on things for publication. Sometimes members will give a couple of chapters as teasers, but it's a rare treat when they do. I'm sure other things will happen as well. But to predict them, for me, is certain failure. Lol. happy writing everyone!! |
