October Novel Prep Challenge

I like the way you think! I have never been one to spare a character torment. It will definitely be tough for him. *evil laughter*

Unfortunately, this part won't have much suffering except for his confusion and feeling of helplessness (he's giving up his ultimate goal, freedom, for his immediate need, survival), but he'll get plenty of mental and physical suffering in other places before he powers through to a sort-of-happy ending. The part in the compound will be a challenge, though. He won't be able to escape, since that would inevitably result in death, so he kind of has to play the part of the passive follower. It's more sterile white walls than dingy prison cells, so I figure most of the conflict and tension will have to come from the outside (the events that are happening without his knowledge) or from the people around him. Maybe his developing not-actually-friendship with my sort-of antagonist...

I worry about it getting boring, though.

The questions you asked are fantastic, and have given me a lot to think about. I will keep all of them in mind as I detail that part of the plot and make more outline revisions! Thank you so much for responding!
