Just a another thoughtāI worked in a state prison as a nurse and there is always things brewing between the inmates. Knifings, rape, gang activityāhere the state will house the northern and the southern gangs together and that another whole set of problems since they are rivals, yard fights ( these are fairly easy to foresee as the inmates start gearing up on food stashes because of the lockdown that follows).
You would be surprised what the inmates will use to make "shanks" (stabbing weapons) out of and they have to be watched constantly. There are suicide watches, hunger strikes and refusal to take medicine watches done daily and many times not to successfully.
There are signs posted "No warning shots fired and lockdowns are occur on a weekly basis at the very least.
This is only to give you an idea of what only some of the inner activity and I am sure I only scratched the surface. It has been awhile since I worked in one.
