Interesting. I've never actually read any steampunk, but the concept has always intrigued me. From the little I know of it, it tends to be set in the Victorian era with added steam machines. I think it can also be set in other time periods and possibly even in the future, but any electrical goods are replaced with steam-powered ones.

Can you recommend a good steampunk to start with (preferably one that doesn't require me to read a whole series)?
