Beyond the dreams of tomorrow lurks nightmare headaches just waiting to creep up behind one and attack. I would say without warning, but sometimes the signals are there and still we can't sleep and forget to hydrate and sleep on an air mattress in our brother-in-law's office for so long that we know just how long to wait before refilling it because it will do a number on our back if we let it slide one more day.
On the plus side, my sister's brain MRIs no longer show any kind of build up, which means brain surgery is off the table for a while. But we are so tired and the kids are so tired, and the eighteen-month-old has gotten to the point where he tries to blackmail me by crying just long enough to be put down, which is a behavior I have to stop because I'm going to keep picking him up off things even when he thinks he needs to stand on the table.
And I was trying to make this fiction, but it got away. For what it's worth, things are going well on this end.
