Hello Newbies!
Well I'm not a newbie, but I haven't been on the website or touched my port in so long I feel like a newbie.... although I'm almost kind of shocked to realize I've had this port for 9 years without making better use of my time.

I had a lot of tragedy over the last years though so I stopped writing for a long time. I stopped caring about my own passions. Then after this last surgery and an anaphylactic reaction to lidocaine a year ago that sent me into a cardiac arrest (I was in a coma for 5 days)... I'm somehow back to writing. I just submitted a short story to the contest being judged by Joyce Carol Oates at December magazine. Shot in the dark, but I wanted to take that leap of faith, perhaps to prove something to myself.

That's really what its about when you put yourself out there to be read, isn't it? A leap of faith... in yourself. I guess I just wanted to say that I'm glad to still be here.
