Noticing Newbies

Hello everyone!

I'm mostly finished with my first novel, The Distant Eye, a fantasy story about a girl from a reindeer-herding tribe who accidentally discovers the ability to turn into a dragon and has to turn to her tribe's estranged shaman to figure out a way to cope with her newfound power. The novel is mostly finished, I'm basically just fine-tuning the details at this point. I'm here to get some feedback on my story and to get some advice on the publishing process.

Some background on me: I have a BA in English, a lot of my story is inspired by the semester I spent in England studying Medieval travel writers and Dante's Divine Comedy. After college I taught ESL in the US for two years, then I moved to Thailand for about four months to teach English at a high school in the middle of some rice fields in the middle of some mountains, then I moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to teach English, and that's where I live now.
