1. Yes, the group is year around but you can work on anything. I have several novels going, some not involved with nanowrimo, but I like to make goals every month to try and focus more.

2. For the official nanowrimo site, technically it is supposed to be one story. However, doing a compilation of stories or poems or anything else is still allowed. It's referred to as being a rebel, same with writing a novel but one you had already started as the official site focuses on starting with word 1 and writing to 50k in the month.

3. Yes, in this group you can make the goal whatever you want. Camp nanowrimo is like that, where you pick the goals, but the official month (November) to "win" on the site you have to reach 50k. However, some don't want to go for that amount and pick whatever goal they want even in November.

4. If I interpret this one right, I mean you don't have to be a rebel to be in this group. You can do the regular, start a new novel and have a goal of 50k or more and be a part of the group. And yes, you can be part of any other group and be in this one, no exclusivity involved.
