The best way I see to avoid this in the future is for contributing authors to contact the owner and let that person know that if they ever decide to leave to please "transfer" the Interactive to another member. This will also have the benefit of allowing the Interactive story to continue and not just be something to read.
It's too late for those already gone, but we as contributing authors need to let owners know that we want what they started to stay.
