A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
I tried to touch on this...I didn't do a good enough job, though... The point of building all of this is to build a relationship with your readers. That's why Twitter is important even if it's ridiculously annoying; it's a way to directly address fans and interact with them on a personal (if not in-person) level. I hate it, but I make sure to update it often-ish. It's personal, but it's also part of your job. You become your job. You've got to write, but you've also got to market yourself. I think that's why Nerd Cactus works; we are clearly those young-ish (mid-to-late-20s) literary/history/writing nerds. Not the kind of nerd obsessed with video games and math; the other kind who really love going to the theater and museums and the cinema. Part of my personal brand is "the smart one"; I do far more in-depth analysis and historical context. I also write about writing a lot more. My other half writes about theater and other things of that nature. We each have our distinct personalities that combine into this great adventure together. We're not trying to be Martin or Rowling or King; we're trying to be us. Problem is, neither of us are really great at networking or social media. We need experts. -Quaddy Check this Out!
