You can link chapters within each chapter. For example, in chapter #1 put bitem link of chapter #2 at the bottom as a direction, then in chapter #2 put bitem link of chapter #3 and so on. This is the only solution for you for now. Upgraded membership and higher only allows you to create a whole book items where you are able to store your chapters as entries.
