Welcome to Writing.Com, Nicholas *Smile*! Since you said you're trying to complete your first book, and NaNoWriMo is getting closer, I'd suggest to you to check out "October Novel Prep Challenge" Open in new Window. and consider to join it in October. There are some awesome exercises that can help you focus on your writing. A lot of writers on this site join prep. month before they do NaNo in November. It's fun and it really helps you elaborate parts of your novel more. Plus, there are some awesome prizes for competitors *Smile*.
