Hello Chris and welcome to Writing.Com. Since you said you're into fantasy genre I'd like to recommend to you "Fantasy and Science Fiction Society" . Members of this group are focused mostly on writing SciFi and fantasy, feel free to check what they are all about and consider to join the group by emailing group leader Matt. They even have monthly newsletter.

You are right about "give and take" relationships here, if you want more exposure for your writing you'll need to read and review the others. That seems fair you have to admit. I'm not too much into sci-fi or fantasy so I can't really be a huge help for your writing but I can direct you to the right place. I'd start with the group I mentioned above and also, if you look on the left side of your portfolio you will see browse by genre. When you click to it you will find all genres that WdC offers. If you scroll it down you will see fantasy, click to it and you will get to separated page that offers all writing written by WdC members in that genre only. Also, if you click to browse by type-->groups or browse by type-->forums you will find plenty of others activities and groups that you might find interesting to join. There are a lot members with different writing interest, and I'm sure it will be exciting for you to see what WdC has to offer.
