Noticing Newbies

Hi! I used to be a member of this site several years ago but it's been some time since I've been here. I'm typically not very good at web-based interactions but I want to improve since so many people have realized the potential of the internet to find new friends that share their interests. I started writing when I was ten, but stopped after I joined the military because life just got too busy and it was too easy to find excuses. Recently, though, I've decided I want to pick back up again and see what I can do. Eventually I would like to look into publishing, but right now I'm hoping to find some other writer friends that can help me improve my writing and polish it before I submit anything, and really to just find some friends who like the same things I like. My favorite things to write are science fiction and horror, or a blend of the two, but sometimes I'll wander into other areas; I'll read nearly anything. I'm happy to offer feedback for others looking for it as well; my major in college was English was a concentration in Creative Writing, so I like breaking things down, analyzing, and making them better.
