No, it's not a death sentence. *Laugh* I prefer seeing characters acknowledge each other and the love they have early on, then going through difficult times and what not together. There are writers who keep their characters separated until almost the end, but there is no wrong with this.

In the Outlander Series the female character was already married in a different time. She traveled to the past, was forced to marry another, who ended up being the love of her life. Five or six books into it, it's still the same characters going through all kinds of ordeals and it never gets boring. *Wink*
