October Novel Prep Challenge

I'm going to say this without reading anyone else's responses, so I may be beating a dead horse or saying what everyone else is saying. Forgive me if I do.

EVERYONE'S TASTE IS DIFFERENT.

I've read books that I think are as dull as the color gray in a crayon box, and other people think it is absolutely amazing. Like, TONS of other people.

I've read books that I think are just the bee's knees, and other people just don't see what I see in it, and they think I am completely off my rocker.

I see movies that I think are the most boring in the entire world, and other people AROUND THE WORLD think it is absolutely amazing and it wins academy awards.

There are movies that I think are absolutely amazing, and other people think it is horrid.

There are also books that I agree with the world about, and there are movies that I agree with the world about.

Does this mean that I have bad taste, or the world has bad taste? Or that my taste is only good when I agree with everyone around the world or when I agree with everyone around me?

No. It means that every book has a different audience. Just because one or two people hate it doesn't mean everyone will. Just because one audience doesn't like it, doesn't mean everyone won't like it.

What is important, however is that you like your book. You have to like it. If you don't like it, you won't make it through it. If you think it is horrible, it is going to be horrible. You have to find your passion in this book, or you won't make it past the fifth chapter. Forgive me, but the rest of the world can think what they want to. Complete NaNo for you, worry about everyone else later.
