my first suggestion is to make a mind-map. what are all the possibilities? because giving up everything she has is wonderful for plot, tension and character development. So don't give that up easily for your main plot.

second suggestion, try starting from the end. she's a demon. what brought her there? then what brought her to that point? working backwards can make your brain move beyond one stuck point
