Noticing Newbies

Hello. This is my first post on this website. So far, I like the look of this community, and I'm hoping to spend some quality time here and make some friends. Regarding facts about me, I'm a writer and educator in the Los Angeles area. I have a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in linguistics. My favorite genres are literary horror and mystery. My writing influences include Daphne Du Maurier, Shirley Jackson, Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, and Thomas Ligotti.

At this point I'm mostly interested in short fiction and poetry. I've not yet had a desire to write anything so long or as encompassing as a novel, although who knows what I might do in the future.

At any rate, I look forward to reading some of your stories.
