Descriptions are supposed to engage a reader, so they say. I can't stand when authors describe the freaking birds of the air. It's uncalled for and turns me off. It's that kind of stuff that will stop me from reading. I received a pretty harsh review of 2 chapters of my memoir, which I disagreed with. He expected more descriptions or more events that happened in a certain situation. It's not possible when you can't recall. Besides, I got my point across by what I did include.
I've received excellent reviews thus far from mods on here that prompted them to buy it before the revisions. That tells me I'm on the right path. I changed my prologue too to distinguish and explain my writing.
