I have a time problem too with some of my work when there's old school characters interacting with a modern setting and characters for contemporary fantasy.

I try to give each a distinctive voice, even if it's as simple as never using contractions in their dialogue, using more 'yet', or some other quirk such as 'apologies' instead of 'sorry'.
