Cinn makes really good points. I do maybe 10 to 15 reviews a month, so it's not many emails in my inbox, even if each one gets a response. I also don't go out to work any more, so have a lot more time than many do to be doing stuff on WDC. But I can see how people wouldn't want their inboxes filling up with emails that are basically just one word responses. If I think back to when I was working full-time, still had a child at home, and very little time for writing, I don't think I'd have liked getting a whole load of emails to plough through that effectively say nothing!
Another thought... if we were writing proper literary reviews in a literary magazine about the latest Booker Prize winner or bestseller, I don't think we'd expect the writer to acknowledge/thank us!
