I thought I had mine nailed down as well. I'm not stopping to research as much, but I have had characters that I thought were throw aways who showed up to be major players and characters that I thought were one way have completely 180'd on me. Sometimes, I think we have to take a step back and remember that stories are fluid and they grow and change like we do. And, just enjoy the process. That's why we're all here making ourselves crazy over word counts, right?

In the end, I think these detours, stops, and side roads make our stories better.
