yostina --

It takes about a year for the one site programmer to do a facelift on the site, which happens every few years or so. The last major update was 2015, and the one before that was 2010, and the one before that might have been 2007. It's likely to be awhile before the next update.

The site is a big place, and the number of menu items is a reflection of that. They balance the visual clutter against being able to get where you want to go with as few clicks and pageloads as possible.

The layout/organization is likely to make more sense to you once you get used to it. As Sally recommended, Get Started is the site beginner's tutorial. Also, "WDC Video Help Desk might be helpful to you in that regard.

In addition, there are features to help reduce visual clutter --

The right hand menu can be opened/closed by the user at will: use the >> button at the upper right corner of the column. I think this is available to free members, but it might not affect ads.

On reading pages, the reading option can darken or white-out both menu columns: click the *Reading* icon at the top right of the center column to turn it on and make its toolbar show up. Once you set your preference, it will remember.

The tiles on the Hub page can be opened or closed, and dragged/dropped to whatever customized arrangement you like. Click on the top of the tile to grab it, and the 3-bar icon to open/shut it.

If you don't want to use the Hub for your main/landing page, set your browser favorite to whatever other page you want to use and sign in from that page. Your email Inbox or your main Portfolio tab are good options for that.

The Mobile View option (for small-screen devices) keeps both navigation menus out of sight unless requested. That option and some others to customize your experience of the site are in this section of My Account/Account Settings:

Be sure to click Submit Changes after making any changes, and check for a success message. Some options may require logging out and logging in again to take effect.

Hope that helps.
