Each WdC item is copyrighted, so I'm guessing most places would consider that previously published. I'm sure if it's a contest, they would be real picky about where the piece has been seen. For example:
Writer's Digest: "Any piece posted on-line, anywhere other than a personal blog, is considered published."
WdC also allows as part of its term of service anyone who views an item to make one copy for their own personal use, either printed or on their own computer. Bet you didn't know that.
Taking it off WdC means deleting and then purging it from your Recycle Bin. which will also remove any reviews. However, doing that does not guarantee that it may not somehow show up somewhere. It's a strange place, Techie World.
